Sailor SART II is an emergency SART transponder designed to send out the survival craft's location by radar to nearby vessels.

The SART transponder has been designed in accordance with IMO, GMDSS requirements and is waterproof up to 10m. When assistance is required the user will activate the device where it will remain in standby mode for up to 96 hours. If vessels equipped with X-band radar comes within 8 nautical miles the location will be transmitted to them and they will be alerted of the SOS situation.

The signal is made up of a stream of 12 in-line dots. At some point in each sweep, the SAILOR SART II frequency will match that of the interrogating radar and will produce a response on the radar display, thus a line of 12 dots equally spaced by about 0.64 nautical mile will be shown.

Sailor SART Transponder is maintenance free, features a test function and has a 5 year replaceable battery pack.

A SART will only respond to a 9 GHz X-band (3 cm wavelength) radar. It will not be seen on S-band (10 cm) or other radar.
